The building of the Faculty of Teacher Education at the University of Zagreb was damaged in the 2020 earthquake. The building is an individual cultural asset and is registered in the Register of Cultural Properties of the Republic of Croatia. The building has a rectangular floor plan and is made of three expansions consisting of a basement, ground floor, three floors and an attic.
The project envisages two main structural operations with the aim of strengthening the structure's resistance. The first intervention is the construction of reinforced concrete transverse walls instead of the existing partition walls, which will extend through all floors to the basement. The second operation is the joining of three dilations into one, which will solve the central dilation, to which ab walls cannot be added through all floors, due to the open entrance lobby and auditorium. Due to the installation of mechanical equipment in the attic area, new roof houses will be built. Two new evacuation steel staircases will be added on the eastern and western facades.
After the restoration of the load-bearing structure, a complete renovation is started with the execution of all construction-craftsmen and installation works until the building of the Faculty of Teachers of the University of Zagreb is fully functional.
