A modern wine cellar and the luxurious Roxanich Wine & Heritage Hotel were built at the foot of the medieval town of Motovun, on a demanding and steep terrain. The synergy of the wine cellar and the hotel, designed by Idis Turato, offers a unique experience in the heart of Istria; top wines, local specialties and an overnight stay in a designer hotel.
Hotel Roxanich consists of 28 rooms located in the main building with a traditional Istrian look and four apartments in the hotel's modern annex. Inlays on the walls, pigmented red concrete and the construction of old wooden beams give unusual looks to the rooms. The hotel also consists of an outdoor swimming pool, a spa centre, an underground garage, a restaurant, a terrace with a beautiful view, and spaces for business events or exhibitions. The water mirror with an area of about 250 sqm (of which there are only a few in Europe) is built on the principle of a shallow pool, which enables the complete picture of the surroundings of the hotel and the wine cellar to be reflected in it.
The wine cellar was built according to the principle of terraces on four floors. The interior spaces of the basement are designed as open concrete halls without partitions for an easier production process, and the floors are connected by a vertical staircase and a lifting platform. The wine cellar consists of a room for amphorae, a room for the production and storage of wine, a tasting room and a wine store.
